Bye bye Kitty....

Summer time, summer time, sum sum summer time.....

What a gorgeous day it was today. It made me realize how much I love Utah this time of year. Did you notice the sky tonight? It was absolutely breath taking.

I love this picture of Brynner's with her lil twiner friends. I'm hoping we get to spend a lot of time at the pool this summer. Our plan is to work hard in the morning and play hard in the afternoon. Sounds dreamy doesn't it?

Bye bye sweet kitty.....

Our lil kitty is finally old enough to leave us and go to his new home. He left tonight and the kids got a little emotional. In fact, Berks decided to sleep at Grandma's house tonight so she could show her exactly how to take care of Teacup {Simba, kitty & Teacup.... he acquired quite a few names during his stay}. This kitty was basically treated like royalty and Berks wanted to make sure Grandma Karen could handle it. Personally.... I think she'll do great!

Girls on the run....

I look so forward to Girls on the run each year. I've participated in GOTR for 4 years now. I had such a great time getting to know my darling girl Erendira...... her nick name is Melissa. She is the sweetest girl I've ever met, with a heart as big as Texas.

This is Erendira, her Mom and I before the race
Walking to the starting line. Erendira was super nervous right before the race started and I was trying to calm her down and get her pumped up at the same time
Ang...nat...Me.... and Tiff
Erendira was so amazing. She ran her heart out and came in first place for Backman Elementary. She was so proud of herself. She wanted to hold hands and run the last little bit as fast as she could, even though she felt like she was going to DIE...... I was so dang proud of her!
I was also proud of these two gems. They came in FIRST and SECOND place, winning gift certificates for new shoes and dinner. I bet they're planning to take me out. I just know it!
This was such a great race. It's always one of the highlights of my year. If you're interested in being a running buddy for fall, check them out HERE to learn more. It's one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself! My running buddy Erendira gave me a letter when we finished the race and it made my heart ache. She is moving back to Mexico because her family can't live here anymore. It broke my heart. I hope she'll continue running and always remember our fun day together. Sure wish I could keep her..... sigh....

Schools out for SuMmEr.......

It's hard to believe that another school year has come and gone. Does anyone else feel like each year go's by faster & faster? It's weird! I'm super excited the kids are out of school and I get to hang with them all day long.

I decided to try something new last summer and I loved it. I didn't sign my kids up for anything. Just Play... play.... play.... all... day.... long! Joe thought I was absolutely nuts and bet that I would never want to do that again. But guess what? I'm so doing it again. The only activity my kids HAVE to do this summer is guitar. Other than that, we're gonna work hard and play hard.

We all need a BIG, FAT break. I didn't cook last summer either {besides BBQ-ing} and I LOVED IT! Man I LOVE my life {knock on wood}.

Cheers to a great SuMmEr.... full of FREEDOM!
Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that never was before and will never be again. And what do we teach our children in school? We teach them that two and two make four and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: "Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all of the world there is no other child exactly like you. In the millions of years that have passed there has never been another child like you. And look at your body-- what a wonder it is! Your legs, your arms, your cunning fingers, the way you move! You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And, when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must cherish one another. You must work--we all must work-- to make this world worthy of it's children."

I need to read this quote every single day. I love it!

Seize the day...

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day yesterday. I know we did. Our day was chock full of fun. It started bright and early with a neighborhood breakfast. Next, we played some great, competitive doubles tennis with our friends the K's. The kids were so excited to finely relax and hang out with their friends. Lastly, we met Joe's family at the cemetery to pay tribute to our dear beloved one's who've passed on.

We sat around Joe's Dad's gravesite and talked about what a great man he was. I think the consensus was he was a hard working and honorable man. We also talked about CC's parents. Bryn is named after Grandma Mimi {Hazel}. She was such an amazing woman. Full of Spirit and life.

I love this quote on LeRoy's gravestone. It reads, "Seize the day". Every time I read it, it sends chills up my spine.
SEIZE THE DAY.
Such a great quote to live by....

At the very bottom of his gravestone it says, "We will live and Love better".
Another wonderful quote....
